Aquatic Therapy
Why Aquatic Therapy?
Aquatic Therapy uses the principles of buoyancy to make exercise easier and less painful, because the forces on weight-bearing joints are reduced. The warmth of the 87 degree salt water helps reduce pain by relaxing tight muscles and increasing blood flow. The water resistance helps patients strengthen muscles and improve cardiovascular performance gently over time. Other benefits of Aquatic Therapy are improved range of motion, decreased joint stress and swelling, and increase in core strength and balance/coordination.
Aqua Therapy is ideal for
- Arthritis management/join pain
- Chronic back pain/lumbar stabilization
- Foot, ankle or knee pain
- Gait analysis
- Lymphedema/edema
- Musculoskeletal disorders
- Neurological disorders
- Post-surgical conditions
What to bring to therapy
- Doctors order
- Bathing suit and towel
- Dry clothes for after session
- Optional; non-slip shoes
